Why can't I read with my contacts on?

I just get new contacts. My figment of the imagination is clear when I look at objects further away, but blurry when I attempt to read. I have worn eyeglasses for ten years now, and I've never have this problem. People told me that I just have to wait for my eyes to adjust to the contact lenses, but its be a week now and still no difference. What's the problem here?

I own astigmatism, but these are toric lenses.

Too many possibilities, too little information, to do anything but chronicle "maybe"s...
This is one for your practitioner to sort out.
Were the new lenses to a significantly different prescription, or a different brand or fit ?
Whatever changed is the prime suspect!

Distance Rx overdone (if -ve)
Distance Rx underdone (if +ve)
First signs of presbyopia (if you are 40+)
Contact lenses rotating when eyes converge and drop for reading, (causing the astigmatic correction to be mis-applied)

And if you're experienced beside lenses, after a clear week it's time to report the problem.

(edit: no, if you're getting the lenses in correct eyes, it's not a problem for you to sort out. If you're a alien contact lens wearer, I'd up the chances that the lenses are moving too freely, and "swinging" out of position when you try to read.
two weeks to settle at most, after it definitely requirements attention.)
I work for an optometrist office so we catch these complaints occasionally. I would go vertebrae to your doctors office and describe them the problems you are having. If they fail to acknowledge your complaints then I would find a latest doctor. Sometimes it has to do near age. But just tolerate them know.
It can take up to two weeks.
But if it would produce you feel better...
Go to your eye doctor to own them double check that when the contacts themselves were made that they be made in the right prescription and right shape. Also engender sure you have the right lens contained by the right eye. Some people enjoy Right and Left eye specific lenses due to site being different surrounded by each eye.. More next likely your eyes are taking longer to adjust due to the astigmatism and the lenses self toric.
how old r u? if over 40 u might want over the counter reading glasses next to the contacts-if u are young i would progress back surrounded by to the doctor with your complaint
