How far away (miles) does the horizon appear to the human eye?

Answer:
That depends on seriously of variables such as elevation, visibility, etc. At sea beside calm weather and at deep-sea level the horizon is 7/8 miles away. The greater you are above sea plane the greater the distance to the horizon. On the
Aircraft Carrier USS Hornet the bridge was 200 foot off the hose down and the Horizon was 15 miles away.
i know that one a honest day, you can look across the the deep and see about 10 miles.
