I'm getting contacts tomorrow and i need to know what cleaner i should receive?!?
Answer:
It really depends on which contacts you end up beside, there are some contact lenses that aren't suppose to be used near certain solution. I know Renu brand Moisture Loc is no longer available because it's formula may if truth be told promote fungal growth (feeds the Fusarium fungus.)
Which can cause two things. First, here are those people who developed a fungal infection but luckily have be given an anti-fungal and have better. In this situation, it is clear that the fungus was the problem since treatment beside anti-fungal medication caused the condition to capture better.
Worse yet are those Moisture Loc injuries where on earth the doctor finds fluffy or feather resembling infiltrates. These infiltrates are fungus. In the most serious cases, a corneal transplant would be required. Some of these are due to corneal scarring and other injuries include irregular astigmatism being diagnosed after the keratitis and/or inside a reasonably short time frame thereafter.
I can't seem to be to find it on the Internet, but I would ask your eye doctor about the Contact Lens Disinfection Regimen Test results. It shows what % of contact lens and solution combos showed fungal growth. I use Acuvue 2 and Renu Plus for almost 4 years and never had a problem. Just be sure to dispose of the used solution on a daily basis, and clean the travel case regularly.
Your eye doctor will tell you what the best humane for your contacts will be.
