BC written on a contact lens prescription stands for plinth curve. This is a measurement of the curvature of the lens.
The scientific definition is: the curvature of the central portion of the posterior surface of a contact lens. Base curve is expressed in millimeters of radius of curvature or surrounded by diopters.
Everyone has different cornea curvatures and and so contact lenses need to come contained by different sizes (base curves). Most soft contact lenses come in underneath curves from 8.3 to 8.9 (8.3 being steeper and 8.9 person flatter)
