Can eye drops drain down your throat when put into your eye?

I was using my usual Baush & Renu for my contacts just a bit ago, and I swear I feel them drain down my throat! I swallowed by reflex. That has never happened up to that time.

I know eye drops are toxic. Should I be worried?

Answers:    Yes eyedrops can drain down your throat there is a tube that connects your tear duct to your nasal alley called the nasolacrimal duct.

Hence you get a snotty antenna when you cry as excess tears drain away down the nasolacrimal duct to your nose.

The head have a lot of connections to it's various parts such as the scratch duct, throat, nose mouth and even the ears are connected to your throat by the eustachian tube.

Excess eye drops went down your split duct and drain from your nasal passage down your throat but please do not worry since the manufacturer are well aware this is a very concrete possibility of happening and likely happen often.
The small amount is not going to do any harm else it would be too uncertain to allow people to put these eye drops in.

It is unlikely that anything toxic that could injure you would be allowed also to be put in your delicate eyes surrounded by any case.

Yes, they can drain in your mouth and throat through the gash duct. I have had eye drops for an infection contained by the eye and it tastes horrible.

There are few side effects from using eye drops. Some patients may notice the drops run down their mouth or throat, which may result as the drops drain to the muzzle through the tear duct. Other times you may notice your drops sting or irritate your eye for a jiffy after use. This should go away within a moment after use. If stinging, irritation or redness persists be sure to permit your health care provider know. It is possible your condition is worsening or surrounded by rare instances, you may be sensitive to the drops prescribed by your doctor.

Most of the time doctors recommend you avoid wearing contact lenses while using eye drops. It is possible for the ingredients used in drops to build up in the lens. This can contribute to irritation, sensitivity, allergic reactions or even infection. Most relations will find using eye drops a simple, easy and no hassle process that requires the tiniest investment of their time and energy.

Eye drops are sterile products up until the time you depart the bottle. When you do use an eye drop formula, you may potentially expose your eye to a host of contaminants. This is why it is so important you take great effort to avoid contamination of your eye dropper container. You should make sure you always use the dropper within a clean or sterile area. Never share your drops near anyone else, as you can share an infection or someone else may contaminate your drops.
yes that happens to me all the time not to verbs. you are not dead, i am not dead, it is non-hazardous.
this is because your eyes your ears and your throat are all connected and if you are lying down whilst applying the eye drop and sit up too quickly it can rush down your throat, so subsequent time try sitting up a little slower but if that doesn't help don't fret.
also, some one who is smart ample to create eye drops would know that your eyes and throat are connected do they wouldn't make something to go contained by your eyes poisn to your throat
hope it helped! :)
Your eyes, nose, and mouth are adjectives connected, but I think the odds of the actual eye drops going down to your throat that in a flash are pretty slim.
Do some research and see if this has happened to anyone else past and what happened. If you're very concerned around swallowing toxic eye drops, call Poison Control. It is possible.
Your eyes ears mouth and nose are adjectives connected.
So yes when you put your eye drops in your eyes you sometimes will be able to piece it.

eye drops are not toxic because if they were you really wouldn't be putting them in your eye. It's just a solution of hose and salt with minerals added.

Yes your sinus cavity is connected together. If so inclined your solution can run out of your proboscis. You have nothing to verbs about.
