Contact lenses for a amazingly strong astigmatism?
Answers: my wife has a immensely strong astigmatism and she wears what are called torque lenses and they work fine for her. Now knowing that adjectives eyes can be different, I wish you the best within your search for contacts
The highest soft contacts for astigmatism I've ever fitted be -6.00 DC
The acuvue advance toric only go to -2.25DC as far as I'm aware: hardly severe astigmatism.
The "Frequency Xcel Toric XR" (Coopervision) goes to -3.75 DC surrounded by a planned replacement lens, and even if they're not available in planned replacement that doesn't mean they can't be made.
There are financial and comfort considerations, but that's only an extra hurdle, not an impossibility.
Do you know how much astigmatism you actually enjoy?
(edit: Footprintz is right:: now cyls to -5.75. on the XR, for a price. I haven't fitted those for a while!)
Actually, the Frequency XR go up to a -5.75 cyl surrounded by monthly disposables...
So, there is rarely a prescription needed that can't be done contained by contacts because the prescription is too strong...it happens more often when the prescription is NOT strong ample.
They are expensive though...something like 125.00 for 1 box of 6.
If your astigmatism is too strong for toric lenses your next chance is gas permeable (hard) contacts. Gas permeables have a bad reputation for comfort but surrounded by reality they are very robust and give you great vision once you are used to them. Talk to your eye doctor give or take a few your options.
