I need Glasses but my optician said i didn't need them?
My optician sed i didn't need them but i cant see the white board. Im going else where but what can i do to guarente i will prescribed glasses this time??Answers: I've worn glasses for over 50 years but I had a problem with one optician when I just couldn't see to drive properly after he'd prescribed new glasses. I kept complaining and eventually went elsewhere.
It turned out that he had some daft idea that if he prescribed the correct strength lenses my eyes would get "lazy" and would deteriorate faster.
The fact that I can now drive without trouble and haven't needed a new prescription for about 10 years suggests that his theory might have been a bit wide of the mark.
Go to a different optician, explain the problem and see what happens. Just one point though, do you have problems reading the white board because it's blurred or because you're eyes aren't able to detect the contrast between the board and the writing? The first sounds like short sight whereas the second could be something more. Try and establish which it is before you visit the optician.
Try Costco, I've had the best service and solutions there and the best guarantee...I've worn glasses for fifty years..
Oh. forgot..also the least expensive by far...the exam is half of what most charge
Could it just be the colour of pen being used that is a problem for you?
If optician thinks you don't need glasses, then you probably don't (assuming you've been to a reputable one).
I know that with it being a bright background, a lot of colours will be harder to read than others. Red is one of the worst. Try asking for only black pens to be used 7 see if that makes a difference. You could also see if turning off the light directly above the board makes it any easier to see whats written there.
def. go to someone else.
but DONT lie to make your eyesight worse! you'll end up paying for really bad headaches and eventually your eyesight WILL get worse!!
this time if your second opt. says that you dont need them then you dont...and its best that way.
the asker is in the UK. i'm pretty sure there is not "cosco" there.
"lying to make your eyesight worse" doesnt work. no reputable optician or optometrist would be fooled by that. most of our Rx writing comes from OBJECTIVE measurements w/o your input anyway (as opposed to "subjective" measurements like refraction).
a second opinion is never a bad idea, but it is certainly possible that you do not, in fact need glasses. so there is no place you can go to "guarantee" that you will be prescribed glasses.
You might not need glasses, it's perfectly possible the optomitrist was right. There could be something wrong elsewhere though, something not physically wrong with your eyes. Deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals can affect eyesight.
If your second opinion also says you dont need glasses perhaps see your GP?
I have been an Ophthalmic Optician for 14 years. There is absolutely no harm in getting a 2nd opinion, however you cannot guarentee an Optician will give you spectacles unless he/she feels there is a clinical reason for them. If the 2nd test ends in the same result, ask him/her to explain why you can't see as well as you would like to.
get a 2nd opinion and make sure u mention the problem your having..if they still say u dont need them...well...ask them to refer you to a ophthalmologist (eye doctor) for further tests.
Contacts help?
I've tried to convience my mom to let me get contacts about 2 or 3 times and everytime she says no. She's no because they might be on a recall, no because the Superbug is at schools now and she thinks that I might get the Superbug, rub my eye and go blind, she said no becuase she thinks it would take too long to put them in and take them out, and I would be late for school (on putting them in). What could I do or say to convience her to let me get contacts?Answers: Well for the first one, just get a trusted brand like acuvue or something.
For the second, if you have staph it doesn't logically make any sense how you could avoid it by rubbing eyes without contacts. Just promise to keep them clean.
For the third, it takes like 20 seconds once you get the hang of it.
Well, there you go. Just remember, this is your mom, she loves you, and respect her final decision.
Do your research. Show her that there isnt really that much to worry about/ Tell her that it would boost your confidence. I started wearing contacts when I was about 12 Have her talk to your eye doctor. I used to wear the disposable ones. As long as you keep them changed there really isnt a worry about infections or anything. I never had problems.
About a year and a half ago I got LASIK eye surgery. I would suggest that you get this as soon as you can. They sometimes make you wait till you are a certain age or your eyes dont change over a certain period of time. I was 22 when I had it done. Ask your doctor. The surgery was the best thing Ive ever done. It took less than 3 minutes for both eyes and I see 20:15 now. I watched the surgery before I had it done. Dont do that! It was way worse to watch it than to actually have it done. Make sure you get an office with experience. I had mine done at LASIK Plus in Charlotte. They were awesome! Its amazing to be able to wake up and see the alarm clock!
Good Luck with everything!
God Bless!
I am trying to order non proscriptive colord contacts but it ask me wat the power of my eyes are.?
how am i supoosed to no ... and how am i suposed to find out ? please helpAnswers: If you are trying to order colored contacts (no-rx) online then the answer would be plano or 0.00. They will probably want your optometrist info b/c they will verify the prescription with them. You still have to be fitted with the contacts even though there is no prescription. Hope this helps!!
If you are ordering nonprescription contacts and you have no vision problems your prescription is "Plano". I am not sure but I believe you may still have to have a prescription form a doctor to get them if ordering on line. If you have gone in for an eye exam and you are ordering them from you doctor then you should have no problems.
