can a single cornea of alive person be donated to a blind person.......coz we can live with one eye.just as we can live with one kidneyAnswers: This would not be necessary as most corneas come from organ donors and there is an over abundance that are out there that go unused from non-living donors. There is no shortage of harvestable corneas for most areas. So, living donors are not needed in most places.
not w/o ruining the donor's eye. the donor would lose THEIR ENTIRE EYE, not just the cornea.
so in theory it might be possible, but even if you didnt mind being one-eyed for the rest of time (??) i doubt you'd find a surgeon who would do this for you. hippocratic oath: firstly, do no harm.
besides...corneas are plentiful! there are plenty of corneas to go around. plenty of people expiring at the local hispital every day with healthy corneas. corneas dont have to be a "match"...they dont have to be typed & cross matched b/c there are no blood vessels in a normal cornea.
this is a terrible idea. give it up. if you think you know someone who needs a cornea, they're going to have to get it from a cadaver.
Is there any cure or treatment now for optic nerve atrophy?
I've had optic nerve atrophy ever since I was a boy and I'm wondering if there is any cure. I've seen from western websties that there is no treatment but what about eastern viewpoints or other viewpoints. My condition is stable and with glasses corrected in both eyes is 20/200. I am still pronounced legally blind by opthamologists and they said that there is nothing that can be done and it won't get any worse but the downside is that it can't get any better they told me. I suffer from eye strain and myopia & I get terrible headaches. I tried accupuncture but it doesn't help (maybe headaches for about a year if I take 10 treatments). I heard there is electrical stimulation but I am skeptical and I don't know if herbs might work or not because I tried one time & nothing happened. Do you know if there is any cure or treatment possiblity or am I going to have to go through life blind the rest of my life? If there is anything, PLEASE HELP, PLEASE HELP!! I want to see & drive a car one day.Answers: I'll pray for you.
Where can I get a contacts perscription?
I want to get colored contacts for cosmetic reasons. I don't need perscription, I just want to change my eye color. How do I figure out what size will fit me? Do I have to see an optometrist to get fitted? Does the wal-mart optometrist center do fittings?Answers: Yes, an optomotrist and yes, wal-mart can.
I once had prescription lenses so I needed to see an optometrist about them, but if you just want coloured lenses you can just buy them in some stores, as far as I'm aware you do not need to get fitted for them. My sister once just bought them when she felt like it, she didn't see anyone about it.
However, if you have any trouble with them (especially if you want to wear them constantly), you should go see an optometrist. I had trouble with lenses because my eyes don't produce enough fluid and they got infected easily when I tried wearing lenses constantly. I am however still allowed to wear them once in a while, so if you want the lenses just for going out, it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes you would have to go see an optometrist. They will fit you with the correct sized lenses.
