What is lasik surgery resembling?
Answers: usually you are given 1-2 5mg valium, just to rob the sweat out of your palms. once in the laser room, you are given a series of numbing drops (no injections). the doctor open your eyelids with a speculum (feels strange, but no pain) and then hydrates your eyes beside saline solution. you are asked to look at a red light and next everything goes gloom for about 10 seconds- the doctor is raise the pressure in your eye to bring your cornea up to the proper point for the laser ( all you be aware of is pressure). the flap is made either by a microkeratome or a laser (femto). you perceive nothing and you verbs to look at the red light. if your eye moves, the laser moves near you, if you turn your head the laser will cut sour. once the ablation is made the doctor smoothes the flap back down and rehydrates your eye. the speculum is removed and you lay within for about 3 minutes near your eyes closed. after that the doc checks your vision- then you nick a percocet, go home and turn to sleep- the next hours of daylight you're able to resume typical everyday things (shower, makeup, work etc...) the entire procedure usually takes smaller number than 40 seconds (prep time is something like 10-20 minutes). it's quicker and less stressful than getting a cavity chock-full ( and there is no affliction or needles!!:) i hope this helps, i know it sounds upsetting, but trust me, i see it everyday and i've never had anyone complain of affliction or discomfort during the procedure. the most important item is to find a surgeon that you trust.
The only item that happens that may freak you out is that when they apply suction to cut the flap everything go dark. No sweat though when it's adjectives said and done you've got to hand perfect perception, immediatly.
