Why cornea turns smoky after a few hours when preserved contained by the eye edge?

Answers:    The cornea tissue is fluently translucent (smoky or gray) and is kept clear by the active transport of marine out of its cells. When the tissue is not chunk of a live body, active transport cease and the natural colour returns.
